Working together for our local communities
Updated: Dec 29, 2020
We live and breathe our mission of building healthier, happier and wealthier communities. To accomplish it, we've taken the first steps to start fulfilling that mission.
This Christmas, we partnered with the Maidenhead Rotary Club to bring some of the Xmas cheer to the underprivileged amongst us. After careful planning and discussions with Jim Howles(community chair-Maidenhead Rotary) and Angeline Gore(Browns CS), we delivered 12 meals on Xmas eve and 1 meal on Xmas day to people in need. Blackbird Foodhouse had prepared a fantastic premium 3-course Xmas meal lined up for our customers and we distributed those for charity as well. There were two variants of these meals
A traditional one consisting of a chicken liver whisky pate for starters, roast turkey for mains and a brandy butter sauce based warm Xmas pudding
A vegetarian meal consisting of roast pumpkin & cinnamon soup with fresh bread, roast cauliflower steak and a brandy butter sauce based warm Xmas pudding
All of this neatly packed into eco-friendly cardboard takeaway boxes with a handle on top. There were delivery drivers on standby ready to swoosh the meals nice and hot to the Browns CS community centre for the homeless. The meals were very graciously received by the care workers and relished by their homeless users.
A big thank you to Jim Howles and Dai Waters from the Maidenhead Rotary Club who helped bring us all together for this wonderful charitable cause. Jim Howles said “We are very pleased to work with Cook My Grub and provide Christmas meals to the Maidenhead homeless and a meal for a lonely Rotarian friend”.
At Cook My Grub, our commitment to our communities is very strong and we hope to continue contributing even more through next year and beyond.
Seasons Greetings from the Cook My Grub Team!
